Genest Landry

Bonjour ya’ll! Thanks for visiting my page.

For those that don’t know me, please allow myself to introduce myself. My name is Genest Landry (pronounced like Renee, but with a “Je” instead of a “Ra”) and I came to Austin by way of the bayous of South Louisiana. Ever since I was a “tee fille” I had trouble keeping still, which resulted in countless bad haircuts and even being banned from one dentist’s office. As I got older my general restlessness eventually guided me to my first love – RUNNING!

But what good is running for the sake of running? For years I ran selfishly; for myself, my sanity, my waistline. But I knew that I wanted my 1st marathon to be different. When I cross the finish line of the Austin marathon on February 14th, I want it to symbolize more than just my love of constant motion. I want crossing the finish line to signify a greater accomplishment that benefits others as well as myself. I feel very lucky to be able to run the marathon not only for me, but for Team ASHA!

I am raising money for the Bharathi Trust Resource Center in the province of Tamil Nadu. The Bharathi Trust Resource Center is an organic farming community that serves as a model farm to help the surrounding communities understand the practice of sustainable agriculture without the use of chemical pesticides and fertilizers, resulting in agriculture that is symbiotic with nature. My hope is to visit and volunteer at the Resource Center in the 2010 or 2011 on a trip to southern India. Thanks for your support! Merci tres beaucoup!
