Madhu

Hi. Thank you for visiting my Strides of Hope home page.

What is this about?

In order to increase my overall well being I started running, and I found my motivation / purpose by joining Asha’s Strides Of Hope program.

In short, this program helps runners train for a marathon/half marathon, and provides a platform to raise funds for various programs which provide a better future for underprivileged children in India. A list of all the projects supported [and currently being supported] can be found here.

‘We run so they can read’. I strongly believe that everyone should have the ability and determination to reach out for their dreams. I am more than honored to be able to facilitate education and financial support for a few underprivileged children.

What am I training for?

I am training to run the Austin Half Marathon as part of Team Asha. My target race is on February 14, 2010, in Austin, Texas.

I am running the half marathon so that I can raise money to make a difference in the lives of a few underprivileged children in India.

What is my goal?

My goal is to raise $100/mile for Asha for Education. Asha for Education is a zero-overhead, volunteer-driven organization that supports education projects in India in the belief that education is a critical requisite for socio-economic change.

I have pledged to raise $1300 to support 2 projects – Asha Deepa School for the Blind, Bidar, Karnataka (ADSFB) & Shristi Special Academy. You can find more information about each of the programs at their links.

How YOU can help/make a difference?

Please donate as much as you can to this worthy cause. You can choose to donate to a specific Asha project of your choice or let Asha decide how to allocate the funds. ANY AMOUNT IS APPRECIATED. Your $$ will go a long way in helping educate underprivileged children in India.

You can contact me with any questions about the program/donation/sponsorship. You can also follow my training at my blog.

Please help me reach my fundraising target.
