Hello Everyone,
Thanks for visiting my Asha fundraising page.
I am training for the 3M Half-Marathon (13.1 Miles) which is going to be on Jan 24th, 2010 and the Austin Half-Marathon on Feb 14th, 2010 in Austin, Texas.
This is my first time running a half-marathon and I am very excited about it. Initially, I thought it was quite crazy to run a half-marathon and pain yourself to inspire others to donate for a cause. I attended the information session of Asha Strides of Hope which changed my perspective. Asha is a non-profitable, volunteer driven organization that provides education to many under-privileged children in various parts of India. Education is one most important thing any child can ask for while growing up. I was very lucky enough to have wonderful parents who gave that to me, but there are many more unfortunate ones in India who are struggling to get education. Education is an important factor in driving our society and I am privileged to be a part of providing that to many kids in India. I am fund-raising for ‘Prasanna Jyothi‘ – a home for homeless girl children.
Please feel free to donate any amount comfortable to you, for this cause. It doesn’t matter how much you donate, all that matters is how much you care! Also most of the companies do corporate matching programs that donate a percentage of what you donate. Please check here if your company offers such programs. Also contact your HR department if the company is not listed in the list.
